Camp Creek Parkway (SR 6) is a high-volume arterial that carries traffic between I-285, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and the growing residential and commercial areas of South Fulton. Roads like it share a set of features that traffic engineers associate with severe crashes: multiple through lanes, posted speeds well above neighborhood streets, frequent commercial driveways, and signalized intersections spaced far apart. Drivers move at highway-like speeds through an environment that functions more like a local street.

For families in Fayette, Coweta, and Clayton counties, this stretch of the south metro is not abstract. Camp Creek Parkway is a routine route to the airport and to jobs and shopping on the south side, and it sits roughly 20 miles north of Tyrone. Corridors with this design carry elevated risk for everyone using them, but especially for motorcyclists, pedestrians, and cyclists — the road users with no protective structure around them.

What a Serious-Injury Crash Can Mean for Georgia Families

When emergency crews airlift someone from a crash scene, the practical fallout begins almost immediately.
